Emu Parade organises rubbish cleanup events with a difference…

WHO WE ARE

Emu Parade is a love story. Well, more of a love triangle, between a barista called Roland, a firetruck called Trish, and a planet called Earth.

Our environmental problems are piling up. Beaches covered in rubbish, more plastic in the ocean than fish, and a climate narrative dominated by how badly we’ve ruined things, rather than what we can do to fix it.

Emu Parade organises rubbish cleanup events with a difference, where volunteers are deliciously rewarded with free coffee, and a focus on celebrating connection through conservation.

Helping rehabilitate habitat and headspace, one cuppa at a time.

MEET TRISH

Trish is an ex-RFS 4x4 firetruck, repurposed into a battery-powered coffee van, and converted to run on used cooking oil instead of diesel.

Trish is clickbait. The most environmentally-offensive looking vehicle imaginable, but running on rubbish, and specifically built for rallying the crew and respecting nature.

Running old motors on vegetable oil has been done before. But merging an abundant hospitality waste product with cutting-edge modern electricity storage is a world first.

And we’re directing every watt of that power towards positive interaction with the environment.

MEET ROLY

Roland. Roly. Rols. Old mate.

Bean dealer, part-time garbo, part-time greasemonkey, full-time frother, and the one man band behind Emu Parade.

With 15 years in Sydney’s hospo scene, sharing good times over good flavours has been a lifelong pursuit.

Also a surfer, traveler and environmental advocate, Emu Parade combines deep enthusiasm for service and community with a direct solution for our most pervasive environmental problem.

Every little bit counts.

Eviron-Mental Health

The headspace benefits of looking after the planet are undeniable. Caring for the environment around us means we’re outside, we’re off our screens, we’re doing an easy mindfulness task, we’re socialising with like-minded people. Picking up rubbish doesn’t have to be a grim and thankless job. It can actually be one of the most beautiful and rewarding rituals at our disposal.

Do good, to feel good. It really is that simple.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Emu Parade exists through support from the community and our network of partners. All proceeds directly contribute towards the ongoing operation of as many cleanups in as many communities as possible.
